Bordering Rockdale County to the north is one of the fastest growing counties in the state, Gwinnett County. The incredible growth of this county is due primarily to its strategic location (near I-85 and I-20) and its economic viability. Thousands of new jobs are created each year through Gwinnett's many commercial office and high tech developments. The groundbreaking on the 495-acre Mall of Georgia was held recently, and the completion of this giant mall will generate nearly 10,000 more jobs by the year 1999. Gwinnett County's housing market is benefiting from the economic activity. New home subdivisions, many of which are swim/tennis communities, can be found in all price ranges and in convenient places throughout the county. The average home price of $125,000 allows many families to purchase a home, and newcomers are stunned by the wide range of styles and amenities that are available. There are no less than 15 municipalities in Gwinnett County, with several towns falling partially into neighboring counties.
