The Northeast area of Atlanta is composed of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Hall & Rockdale counties. These counties are each very individualized, with perhaps only geographic similarities.
DeKalb County is the most urban county in the Northeast area; it is also the most culturally diverse. It is home to several colleges and universities, as well as many museums. Its International Corridor features a wide array of ethnic shopping and dining. The economic vitality of Gwinnett County is one reason it is enjoying such phenomenal growth. Its location (north up I-85) attracts many businesses and has spawned a large retail district and many choices in housing. Hall County, known for the popular Lake Lanier, and Rockdale County, one of the areas' best kept secrets, complete the Northeast region.
