The ever-changing Atlanta Falcons roster is the topic of conversation at most sports bars across A-Town. Longstanding QB Matt Ryan is playing better than ever, but it’s the new recruits that are generating some serious buzz. In fact, Atlanta Falcons tickets are already being scooped up ahead of the upcoming season. Learn more about the city’s dominant football team and why you won’t want to miss a game.

History of the Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons got their start in 1962 in what was once known as the American Football League. The team then merged with the National Football League (NFL) in 1965 and has been building a franchise ever since. The Atlanta Falcons are a part of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team’s current record stands at 368–466–6. They have two Superbowl appearances (1998 and 2017) but have yet to win the sport’s most prestigious title.

Atlanta Falcons Roster

The roster for the Falcons changes frequently, especially during the off-season. Teams add and drop players as they figure out what they need to be the most competitive team out there. Some legendary athletes have worn the Falcons red-and-black, including Deion “Prime Time” Sanders and Michael Vick. However, there a handful of current franchise players that are aiming to make their own mark in Atlanta sports history.

Matt Ryan

Arguably one of the Falcons’ most iconic quarterbacks, Ryan was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons as the third overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft. He attended Boston College, where he competed in four bowl games during his collegiate career. Atlanta has been his home for more than 10 years now. He has set some notable Falcons records, including:

  • Most wins in a regular season by a starting quarterback (2010 and 2012).
  • Most career wins (100).
  • Fewest interceptions (2016).

Julio Jones

Another important Atlanta Falcons roster member is Julio Jones, one of the best wide receivers currently playing in the NFL. Jones made his Falcons debut in 2011 and has been in A-Town ever since. He’s a six-time Pro Bowl athlete and has led the NFL in receiving yards in two seasons (2012 and 2018). He also holds the Falcons’ record for most games with at least 250 receiving yards (3).

Other Notable Roster Players

Football fans got a close-up look of its iconic architecture during Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019. It sits at 2 million square feet, has a retractable roof and features the world’s seventh-largest LED video board. Check out these other cool facts and features:

  • Cost to build: $1.5 billion.

Atlanta Falcons Rivals

There is one team that makes superfans of the Atlanta Falcons growl: The New Orleans Saints. The Falcons-Saints rivalry is a vicious one, dating back to when the two divisional conference teams met for the first time in 1967. Atlanta leads the series 52-48 all-time and has notched one postseason win against the rival in the 1991 Wild Card game. The Saints have won the previous three matchups between the teams, poising the Falcons for a surefire comeback in the upcoming season.

Atlanta Falcons Tickets

Falcons tickets are a hot commodity in A-Town every year, but the last few seasons have turned even casual watchers into die-hard Dirty Birds. Fans have two options when it comes to purchasing tickets: single-game and season. Single-game tickets permit fans to watch a game of their choosing at Mercedes Benz Stadium while season tickets guarantee them all six regular-season home games. Single-game tickets run the gamut from $50 to $500 depending on the seat location and the opponent. Season tickets range from $500 to $4,000.

The Falcons do not sell single-game tickets through the official website. However, fans interested in only attending one or a select handful of home games can purchase these tickets through third-party sites and private sellers. Those who choose to buy Atlanta Falcons season tickets can split the payments into smaller monthly amounts.

Note: season ticketholders must place a down payment for a Personal Seat License, which entitles a fan to purchase a seat within the stadium. This is a separate cost from the cost of admission.
